Bariatric Coaching

Unfortunately, as a licensed psychotherapist, I am bound by strict regulations that prohibit me from offering therapy to clients outside the state of Florida. But here's the good news: I do offer coaching services that are available to clients located in all 50 states! While coaching and therapy are not the same thing, I have found that many clients who have undergone bariatric surgery are actually seeking more of a coaching-style approach to their post-surgery experience.

In coaching, we can work together to set specific goals, develop strategies to achieve those goals, and provide ongoing support and accountability to ensure that you reach your desired outcomes. My ultimate goal is to help you live your best life and achieve the success you are looking for, regardless of whether we work together through coaching or therapy.

If you're interested in pursuing coaching services with me, I would be more than happy to discuss this option with you further and see if it's the best fit for your needs and goals. So let's chat and see what we can do to help you succeed!

Difference Between Therapy and Coaching

As a psychotherapist, you may be asked by clients about the difference between therapy and coaching. While both aim to help individuals improve their lives, there are some fundamental differences between the two.

Therapy typically focuses on addressing emotional or psychological issues that are causing distress or impairment in daily functioning. A therapist works with clients to help them identify and understand the root causes of their issues, develop coping strategies, and make meaningful changes in their lives. Therapy often involves exploring past experiences and emotions to gain insight into patterns of behavior and thought.

Coaching, on the other hand, is typically focused on achieving specific goals or objectives. A coach works with clients to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses, develop a plan to reach their goals, and provide support and accountability as they work toward those goals. Coaching often involves working on specific skills or behaviors, such as public speaking, leadership, or time management.

One of the key differences between therapy and coaching is the level of structure and guidance provided. Therapy tends to be more open-ended, with clients leading the conversation and exploring their thoughts and emotions as they arise. Coaching, on the other hand, is typically more structured, with specific goals and objectives identified at the outset of the coaching relationship.

Another difference is the nature of the relationship between the client and the practitioner. In therapy, the relationship is typically more egalitarian, with the therapist serving as a guide or facilitator for the client's own self-exploration. In coaching, the relationship is more hierarchical, with the coach serving as an expert or mentor who provides guidance and direction to the client.

Finally, the training and qualifications required to practice therapy and coaching are different. Therapists are typically licensed mental health professionals who have completed extensive graduate-level training in psychology or counseling. Coaches, on the other hand, may come from a variety of backgrounds and may not be required to have any specific qualifications or certifications.

In conclusion, while both therapy and coaching aim to help individuals improve their lives, they differ in their focus, structure, nature of the relationship, and training requirements.

Rates and What to Expect

Unfortunately, coaching services are not covered by insurance, so you would need to pay out of pocket for this type of service. The fee for coaching sessions is $100 per hour.

Before our initial meeting, you will be asked to complete an assessment to identify specific areas in which you are seeking help. During our coaching sessions, we will work collaboratively to create a plan to address each of these areas. At the end of each session, you will receive notes outlining the topics we discussed, as well as a detailed action plan to help guide your progress.

During subsequent sessions, we will review your progress, discuss what worked well, and create a new plan to address any areas that need further attention. My aim as your coach is to provide you with the guidance, support, and accountability you need to achieve your goals and live your best life. So, let's get started on this journey together.

As a coach, my approach is typically short-term and focused on problem-solving. This means that we will work together to identify specific challenges or issues that you are facing and develop strategies to overcome them in a timely manner.

I understand that everyone's needs and schedules are unique, which is why I only charge for sessions as we go. You are free to come in as often or as infrequently as you need, and we can space sessions out according to your availability and preferences.

My goal is to provide you with the tools, support, and guidance you need to achieve your goals and live your best life. So, let's work together to make the most of our time and help you reach your desired outcomes as efficiently and effectively as possible.
